People People Simplify Speaker Design with a Transparent Glass Design

People People has just introduced one of the coolest looking speakers we’ve seen in a long while – and they’re selling it through Urban Outfitters! I guess it makes sense really, this speaker is all about design and aesthetics, but that doesn’t mean that sound quality has been compromised.

Before we get on to how this amazing piece of kit was constructed, let’s take a look at what’s ‘under the hood’. The speaker is made with premium audio components and features a 6.5” subwoofer and two full-range drivers, allowing for full sound even in a large room. It has a built-in amplifier complete with DSP, and the aluminum control panel is contained between the two glass panels and holds an LED power display that makes it easy to adjust bass, treble and volume.

There’s also the classic 3.55mm auxiliary jack built in, making this pretty versatile. As long as there’s a headphone jack, this baby will play your tunes beautifully. USB sockets are also available, and the speaker can connect to your iPod, iPad and iPhone thanks to its support for Airport Express and Apple AirPlay. No matter your setup, you can pretty much guarantee this speaker will work for you.

So what about the construction? Well, this glass box is super simple, with its control box and speakers neatly bolted between two panels of glass with its premium metal and plastic frame. It’s designed to complement any modern home and is pretty durable, so you can take it with you, whether you’re jamming at a party or need a nice home speaker setup.

Head on over to Urban Outfitters and you’ll be able to pick one up yourself for $850. It might not be the cheapest speaker on the market but it’s certainly one of the most exciting.
